The weather for a beach wedding in Pensacola is looking good.  We’re talking temperatures in the seventies, that’s 70’s.  Yes it’s nice and pleasant.  Great for coming to the sugar white sands of Florida.  It’s not tropical yet but the summer will be, just wait.  There’s plenty of availability in hotels and condos.  Check out the resources page for more info on accommodations.  The beach looks beautiful.  I went out the beach to watch the sunset and thought to myself how quiet it is on the sand and wouldn’t a wedding right here be nice?  The sunset was magnificent that day with the sun shining down on the water.  Seashells were everywhere and every color. A beach wedding in Pensacola would be just the thing to have during the holiday season. We’re gonna have temperatures in the seventies until after Christmas so grab your fiancé and come on down to the beach. It’s pretty quiet down here right now said this would be a great time to have the beach to yourselves. If you go for a condo many of them have hot tubs that you can enjoy while being outside and taking in the scenery. We’ve had an especially warm winter so this is the time to make a trip with the one you love most. And what fun it will be. If you want to wait until after Christmas come down before New Year’s Eve. It’s a great time to be in Florida and have a Pensacola Beach wedding. The Gulf of Mexico is the perfect backdrop for a ceremony in the sand. We have had elopements this time it here. Some couples like to get married on New Year’s Day and start the year out right. If that’s your cup of tea we can be there for you. We doubt the ceremonies on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, but we will do them on New Year’s Day. You can even watch the polar bear dip at noon. That’s where everyone runs into the Gulf of Mexico together. Of course it’s not as cold as it is up north so you will see many in interesting costumes and folks take the plunge. When you’re planning your Pensacola Beach wedding remember that people who are habitually late. You’re probably related to them. I know it’s probably not something you really wouldn’t think about but they are family and you do want them to make it to the wedding on time if possible. Here are some examples of how to get someone to be punctual. One of the best ways is to have them stay where you were staying. It’s kind of hard for them to be late if you have them underfoot. However I would advise this in some cases especially if the person is whiny. That could be disturbing on your wedding day. What if that person is 30 minutes late at every single meeting you have as a family? Why not tell them to be they’re 30 minutes earlier than everyone else? It really does work out better this way. One bride had a bridesmaid that was habitually late and I encouraged her to tell her to be there an hour prior to the ceremony. Unfortunately the bride got caught up in the planning of the wedding and getting everything ready and forgot to tell the bridesmaid to arrive 1 hour prior to the ceremony. The bridesmaid was very late arriving and did not participate in the ceremony because the ceremony was over by the time she got there. You don’t want that! So start now and tell all your wonderful loved ones the time they need to be at the beach wedding and for those unfortunate souls who can’t seem to get anywhere on time, have some mercy and tell them to a different time from everyone else. One bride even gave her grandmother a personal handmade invitation just so her grandmother could watch her walk down the aisle. Apparently her grandmother was one of those late folks. I thought she was brilliant by having the kindness to make grandma her own invitation.

What’s not to love about a Pensacola Beach wedding?  You have the sun, the sand, and the ocean. Beautiful. But this morning on a news show I saw a bride and groom posing for pictures on the edge of a cliff. One picture showed the bride in a full length wedding gown dangling over a precipice while the groom hung on to her with both hands. I’m sure she was tethered in some way but there’s no way I would do that. And I don’t think I could marry anyone that was doing that. Not feel good about it. That’s just too scary. The beaches nonthreatening that’s what I like about it. There’s nothing there that can put you in harm’s way except maybe a jellyfish sting which is easy to get rid of with meat tenderizer. But he won’t be going swimming when you’re getting married. At least not until after the ceremony. Remember the last blog about trashing the dress? With great about a beach wedding in Florida this mess of the time the weather’s pleasant. The sand is white and quite dazzling with the sun hitting it. So no more talk of this hanging off cliffs in wedding gowns. When I saw that I doubt fell out of my chair and almost spilled my coffee. That’s a scary thing early in the morning. Don’t get me wrong the pictures looked beautiful but the extent that they had to go through to get those shots was a little extreme unless you’re a rock climber. Maybe that was the case. But still I would invite them to think about having a ceremony on the sand. Just for peace of mind and safety.

Last year at a beach wedding in Pensacola we saw quite a few brides jump into the water with their wedding gowns on. Trash the dress was very popular in 2014. This year we only had one bride get her wedding gown wet. She wanted to trash her dress. I understand why women do this. You’re only going to wear that gown once. You’re not going to sell it so why not jump in the Gulf of Mexico. This sweet bride did not realize how happy the water was going to make her wedding gown. I felt so sorry for her because she couldn’t get out of water. The groom was laughing and finally helped her out, they were both laughing at that point. I smiled and thought to myself they are sharing a funny moment together while everyone else was flabbergasted. I still thought they were quite cute all wet like that. They had both wanted a Pensacola Beach wedding as they had both vacationed here before. One of the funniest trash the dress moments was when the bride and groom had told us they were going to turn and run into the Gulf of Mexico right when the ceremony was over. They both had children from previous marriages and the kids were in on it. They told me not to tell anyone, it was so hard not to break the news to the mother of the bride but I knew it was my job not to say anything and wait for the surprise. I told the photographer to take a lot of pictures before the end of the ceremony as I knew we wouldn’t have that many afterwards. So at the end of the ceremony are happy couple and their children turned in ran into the water. I thought everyone was going to fall over. That was a good one.

Many couples got married on Pensacola Beach this year and I noticed several different trends. One of the trends off noticed and it has been this way for a few years now is the hand tied bouquet.They complement everyone, every type of bride if you’re tall if you’re small it doesn’t matter, this bouquet works for everyone. There were some twists on it with some brides having a small cascade coming off their bouquet which was really pretty. I liked it. Not a large cascade but just a small one. Another thing I noticed his wedding cakes with no frosting only filling in between the layers. It had what looked like a little frosting on it but not the heavy layers of frosting we’re accustomed to in wedding cakes. Personally am not a big fan of frosting so having more cake with something I liked. However there are some people who are big fans of frosting so this didn’t work for them but it was interesting to see different kinds of wedding cakes. I noticed that red velvet really made a strong showing here in Florida and lower Alabama for wedding cake flavors. Of course there is the favorite beach wedding cake with starfish and seashells. Everybody likes at one because the starfish and seashells are made out of white chocolate. I noticed more neutral colors with pops of color. Blue was popular. Of course the beach is still popular for weddings and everyone’s favorite destination. It’s hard to go wrong with the beach. I’ve been studying the new trends for 2016 and I’ll be giving a rundown of those later on in the blog.

We had several beach weddings in Pensacola Florida where all the guests wore the same color. This particular color looks great on everyone and it’s very cool in the summer. And that color is white. I know a lot of you may think that it is taboo to wear white to a wedding. Nothing could be further from the truth especially a destination wedding. It’s a cool comfortable color and when its 85° outside can make the experience quite livable. Although some of you may feel that the bride would get lost in such a sea of white nothing could be further from the truth. With wedding gowns becoming so much more than what they were years ago it’s hard to ignore a stunning bride walking down the aisle. Best of the time everyone would we are all white with maybe a touch of the thing c0lor of the wedding. As usual we saw a lot of blues and greens which look lovely at the beach as well as orange, the color to beat this year. Orange really stands out in a beach environment. We also saw a lot of off white wedding gowns this year. Cream and champagne colored wedding gowns make their presence known. One wedding and I saw I really liked it was the color of milk. The waiting game was yellow so the milk color looked beautiful with the yellow. Another down I liked had a champagne colored material under a half white lace with spaghetti straps. It was a beautiful dress and complemented the bride. So let’s see what the new trends for 2016 show us. I wonder what color the guests will be wearing next year.

One of the most unusual things that ever happened at a Pensacola Beach wedding was the day we had waterspout. The bride had not arrived yet and we were all waiting on the beach, the groom was there and all the families. I was looking out over the waves and I noticed a waterspout. My photographer had spotted it when I saw it and I asked him to keep an eye on it while I went and notify the guests of what to do in case it came on shore. We watched it moved closer to the beach and the groom was curious about what could happen. I told him they move on shore and dissipate. I asked him if he had ever seen a dust devil. He said yes he had. I set this is very similar to that except it has water in it. He was concerned that it may disrupt his beach wedding. I understood his concern and told him we would keep a close eye on it to see what happened. Everyone continue to watch it and the bride arrived. We started the ceremony and my photographer continue to watch the waterspout. We’re about halfway through the ceremony when my photographer gave me a signal to turn and look. As I did the waterspout moved up into the air and went directly over us with no water getting on this and no wind. We were truly blessed. I continued on with the ceremony as if nothing happened and everything fell into place nicely. We continued on into the photography of family portraits and someone pulled me to the side and asked me if I knew that was going to happen. I said no but it was a blessing that it just jumped over us. Afterwards I spoke with my photographer and he said it just jumped up and totally avoided us. Talk about the power of prayer!

We had a lot of brides get married on Pensacola Beach. They were all so beautiful this year and every year. We also had some brides who had special challenges to overcome in order to have the wedding of their dreams. We had brides who had multiple sclerosis, strokes, laws of parents. All these brave brides stood up and face the challenges head on. They have my admiration and respect. We had to get creative in order to assure these brides had everything they needed. These challenges are what make this job so rewarding. Although I don’t really consider it a job because of everything I get from it spiritually. I consider it an honor to be there on the sand with brides and grooms, their family and friends. Every time I see a bride walk across the sand it still thrills me I have this happening in my life. Beach weddings have been part of my career for a long time now and I love it. I feel so blessed I get to do an incredible service for people who were in love. We had so many different brides this year. Every age group, every kind of dress, every kind of family. It was exciting. Also very hot in July but it’s to be expected and we still did weddings. Another romantic wedding on Pensacola Beach took place recently. And once again grooms are on the move looking for weddings for their brides. This young man made all the arrangements himself. He told his lovely bride they were going to get married on the beach and have a simple ceremony. He then contacted me and decided to go with the Isle of Love package. At one time this package had a dug up heart in the sand with rose petals in the middle however we are no longer offering that option. Our new Isle of Love has a circle of flowers similar to a wedding ring. We talked about the wedding and what he wanted to take place. I agreed and plans were put into motion. The afternoon of the wedding arrived and we met the happy couple at the appointed place which the groom had picked out himself. As they walked out onto the sand that bride was so thrilled to see the heart in the sand with the petals. She was beaming at her beach wedding. They both stepped in to the heart together holding hands and said their vows to each other. They had both been married previously and wanted to have a simple intimate wedding with for the two of them. They both had children from previous marriages but decided to leave the children at home with their grandparents. This was going to be a wedding and honeymoon all in one. After the ceremony and pictures they asked me about different things to do on the island and I was able to give them a quick rundown of the different places they could go and things they could do together. I advise them to stop and check the visitors information center and tell them where to find it. Many times there are coupons for discounts on some of the attractions in the area.
